Though my blog today look healthy in content but I am still struggling to get enough traffic. Traffic remains the prime task for every webmaster or blogger and that too free. Small time bloggers like me and many others can hardly afford to spend for traffic.
I would like to believe that the biggest driver of traffic is quality content matched with some technical activities like SEO etc. So, I went about exploring ways to get free traffic.
Below are some ways of getting free traffic for your website or blog:
1. Step no 1 is to optimize your website for search engines like google, bing, AOL, yahoo etc. This activity is called as Search engine optimization - SEO. Look alien at the first go but as go deep and understand the concept of SEO, it will look fairly simple. I will cover the SEO in detail in my next post. Keep watching.
2. Content is the king - every one including search engines still believes that content is the king. Writing interesting, interactive content and updating it frequently (every day, hour may be...) will help a great deal. But does not mean that you cannot get inspired from someones writing. If you like someones article, then adapt your own version by adding more value to the document. This can be useful way to get free traffic on your blog or website without any effort. For example - If you like an article about mobile phone review. Adapt it by adding more to it like - current price, pictures, demo youtube video, rate it as per your understanding.
3. Social networking - very powerful tool to reach out to like minded people and get free traffic. There is an easy way to get the conversation going on social networking sites - Now you can link you blog feeds to twitter, linked in and facebook. 4. Back linking - This is something very interesting. It is process of putting your link on some high traffic website and vise-versa. Many sites allow link building. Its important that you connect to the right niche that matches yours to get relevant traffic. This can simply be done by commenting on website forum with your website link in your signature.
5. Other free promotion tools like google places, classified sites, google pages or even website directory submission can really help in diverting free traffic.
