Adsense is the strongest product in the market today that offers contextual advertising solutions. Therefore lot of publishers including bloggers get attracted to it. There were time when adsense application were approved by google instantly. As the no of content providers have increased, Google has been selective.

1. Your website must own top-level domain (www.example.com & not www.example.com/mysite)
This means that you should apply with a root domain or sub-domain name like http://gyandope.blogspot.com.
Getting a top level domain name is very simple. You can get a domain registered directly from various free blog service providers like blogger.com, blog.com or wordpress.com.
If you do not wish to invest on getting a domain name then please do not worry. There are players in the market that offers free domain names like http://co.cc.
2. Your domain must be registered and active for atleast 6 months before you apply for Adsense.
Off lately, Google has been very strict on this guideline. I have seen them rejecting application of new publishers with rich and unique content. But it is not always true. Google may approve bigger portals instantly. Their selection procedure is not very transparent.
3.You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registrations.
This is a very critical guideline. Google would always verify the ownership of the domain. In case of rejections under this guidelines, Google might requested publishers to create a static web page on their website and install a special code.
4. Your website must contain substantial, original content
For all those people who thinks opening a website or a blog is easy, by simply copying content from others. Then please watch out. Google has the technology to figure out duplicate and copied content. It is simply not allowed. Infact this the most common reason for rejection.
5. Your Site must comply to all Google Adsense program Policies
